SITUATION REPORT #7
SUBJECT: Hurricane Humberto
DATE AND TIME COVERED: Sunday, September 16, 2007, 12:00 PM through Monday, September 17, 2007, 8:00 AM
CURRENT SITUATION:
Entergy has restored power to the remainder of the peninsula. Red Cross, Salvation Army and the PODs (Points of Distribution) will begin to shut down operations. Damage Assessment activities continue. PDAs will begin with FEMA tomorrow morning (Tuesday). Debris removal continues on the peninsula. TxDot is supporting the operation by moving debris from the temporary site in High Island to a site where it can be burned in Bolivar. The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management continues to work the incident with their regular staff to support the recovery efforts following Hurricane Humberto.
AREAS AFFECTED BY THIS EVENT: Bolivar Peninsula, Communities of High Island, Gilchrist, Crystal Beach and Port Bolivar.
RESPONDING OFFICES/DEPARTMENTS, RESOURCES COMMITTED: GCOEM, GCSO, Red Cross, Texas Military Forces, Texas Alert Team, Texas Department of Public Safety, All VFDs on Bolivar Peninsula, Road and Bridge, Texas Department of Transportation, Southern Baptist Men’s Group.
CASUALTIES: None reported.
DAMAGES: Structure Damage, Overturned RV’s, Roof Damage, Power Lines, Trees Uprooted.
EVACUATION: None.
SHELTER: None.
ROADS CURRENTLY CLOSED/IMPACTED: None.
CURRENT UTILITY OUTAGES: Electricity has been restored to all of Bolivar Peninsula.
COMMENTS: The Emergency Management Office continues to monitor the situation and assist with resource requests. Conference calls are being conducted with the Galveston County jurisdictions, public agencies, utilities, and first responders in the affected areas. The next conference call is scheduled for 3:30 PM September 17, 2007. with members of the response effort. The Emergency Operations Center is at Level 3.
