Tropical Storm Edouard PDF Print E-mail

Over the weekend, a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico was upgraded, named and became Tropical Storm Edouard, the fifth named storm of the 2008 Hurricane Season.  Current projections have TS Edouard making landfall as a strong Tropical Storm or potentially a Category 1 hurricane somewhere along the upper Texas Coast .  A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from Port O’Connor, Texas to Intracoastal City , Louisiana. If the storm remains on the current forecast track, the coast of Galveston County could begin to experience tropical storm force winds in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

The Office of Emergency Management is making preparations for the arrival of Edouard.  This is a good time for citizens to review and activate their Family Emergency Plans.  A key component of any Family Plan is a well-stocked Emergency Kit.  Suggested items to be included in a Family Emergency Kit can be found here.
