SITUATION REPORT #1
SUBJECT: Tropical Storm Edouard
DATE AND TIME COVERED: Monday, 4 August 2008, 06:00 AM through Monday, 4 August 2008, 06:00 PM
● CURRENT SITUATION:
The forecast track for Tropical Storm Edouard shows landfall on the Texas Gulf Coast on the western end of Galveston Island, sometime around 9 am Tuesday morning. The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management has activated core staff only at this time and will activate fully at 6 pm this evening for Tropical Storm Edouard. At 10:00 am CDT, the center of Tropical Storm Edouard was located near Latitude 28.2 North; Longitude 90.6 West or about 280 miles east-southeast of Galveston. Tropical Storm Edouard is moving toward the west near 7 mph. Expected rainfall for Monday night through Tuesday evening is estimated 3 to 5 inches and tide of 3 to 4 feet.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Tropical Storm winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center. Estimated minimum pressure is at 1002 MB.
The next advisory will be issued by the National Hurricane Center at 4:00 pm CDT.
The Galveston County Emergency Operations Center is activated and operating at a Readiness Condition 1.
All Galveston County Departments and Employees are advised to monitor this situation closely.

● CURRENT UTILITY OUTAGES: None at this time.
● COMMENTS: The Emergency Management Division is closely monitoring this situation. Conference calls are being conducted with the Local Jurisdictions, National Weather Service, State of Texas Operations Center and our regional partners. The next conference call is scheduled for 1:30 pm, Monday 4, August, 2008 with county departments. This Office and the Emergency Operations Center are on Level 1. As a precaution the limited activation (Level 1) of the EOC will continue until further notice.
The State of Texas has activated 1200 military personnel, Texas Task Force 1, Strike Teams and up to 200 buses into the upper Texas coastal area for use should the situation require.
