Forecast for Ike Shifts South PDF Print E-mail

Overnight, the models and the forecast track from the National Hurricane Center have shifted the forecast landfall of Ike to somewhere between Brownsville and Corpus Christi.  However, the Galveston County Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor Ike's progress.  Until Ike actually enters the Gulf of Mexico, it will be difficult to determine which area will be directly affected.  We are continuing to work with our local jurisdiction partners, the National Weather Service and the Governor's Division of Emergency Management all local jurisdictions.  Now is a crucial time to review your family plans and begin to prepare in the event the storm should shift back to the north and strike our region. Please keep your gas tanks full in case an evacuation is called by your local officials.  A suggested list of supplies for your disaster kit can be found here.  Keep yourselves up to date on the most current information by visiting the websites of the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, the National Hurricane Center and our web page.
