Hurricane Season Begins PDF Print E-mail

June 1st marks the opening day of hurricane season.  For the next six months, emergency management officials will watch the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico for developing tropical storms.

Every major forecasting outfit is calling for a more active season.  It's important to stay prepared and informed throughout the summer and fall.

Citizens who have not already done so, should put together a family emergency plan and an emergency kit.  Those who have an emergency plan, should take some time to make sure that the information, such as family contact information, is still correct.

To receive the most up to date information from local officials, residents can register with the Blackboard Connect notification system by clicking here.

Hurricane season can be a stressful time along the Texas Gulf Coast, but taking steps to be prepared can reduce that anxiety.
