Galveston County will host a coastal construction workshop July 1 at the Galveston County Emergency Management Facility (GCEMF). The workshop, open to home builders and remodelers as well as local officials, will be taught by instructors from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no charge.
The coastal construction workshop actually is two classes – a four-hour workshop geared to professionals in the home construction and home improvement industry; and a four-hour course to help city building officials and community leaders better understand best practices in coastal construction.
FEMA 449, Coastal Construction Workshop, will be offered from 8-noon; and FEMA 550, Introduction to Coastal Foundation Design and Construction for Local Officials, will be from 1-5 PM, both on July 1 at GCEMF. Up to 7 continuing education credits will be awarded.
The Galveston County Emergency Management Facility is located at 1353 FM 646 in League City, approximately one-half mile east of Interstate 45 at Exit 20.
To reserve your seat in either or both classes on July 1, contact Alyssa Young at 281.309.5039 no later than Monday, June 28. You also may email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
