Tropical Storm Alex Update PDF Print E-mail

The Galveston County of Emergency Management continues to keep a watchful eye on Tropical Storm Alex in the southern Gulf of Mexico.  During the day on Monday, not much change has taken place but the storm is expected to intensify over night becoming a Category 1 early Tuesday, with the potential for becoming a Category 2 storm prior to making landfall.  The eye of the storm is expected to make landfall somewhere in northern Mexico or southern Texas late Wednesday night.

A Coastal Flood Watch may be issued for the upper Texas coast although with the current forecast track, this watch may not be necessary.

Rainfall of 3-5 inches is possible along the coast with 1-3 inches possible elsewhere in southeast Texas.  Isolated amounts of 6-8 inches may be possible.

The National Hurricane Center has forecast an active hurricane season this year.  It is not too late to get prepared for hurricane season.  Review your personal emergency plan, make sure you have fresh emergency supplies and listen to your local public officials for updated information.
