Overnight Tuesday night, Alex was upgraded from a tropical storm to Hurricane Alex.  The forecast track for the landfall of Alex continues to be the northern Mexico coast just south of Brownsville.

The Coastal Flood Watch previously issued by the National Weather Service has been upgraded to a Coastal Flood Warning and will remain in effect through Thursday evening.  Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicate that high water and heavy debris are affecting the TX 124 and 87 from Rollover Pass to High Island causing road closure in that area.

The Ferry is operational as of 7:30 am Wednesday.  The Texas Department of Transportation will oversee clearing the roadways of debris.

Flooding is likely to continue along the coast throughout the day.  If you encounter a roadway covered by water, do not attempt to cross.  Remember, turn around don't drown.
