Alex has been downgraded to a tropical storm this morning after making landfall around 9:00 pm Wednesday night in northeastern Mexico.

However, the National Weather Service has extended the Coastal Flood Warning for parts of the Texas Coast including Galveston County.  The Coastal Flood Warning, which was supposed to expire at 7:00 pm Thursday night has been extended to 7:00 am Friday morning.

Highway 87 from High Island to Rollover Pass remains closed today.  The water level has decreased some from yesterday.  The Texas Department of Transportation continues to move debris from the roadway.  As of Thursday morning, it is not known when the roadway will reopen, but crews are working diligently to make that happen.
