The remnants of Tropical Storm Alex continue to impact Galveston County with elevated tides, choppy bay and Gulf waters, and heavy rainfall.
National Weather Service officials indicate that the elevated tide is likely to remain until Friday afternoon, further prolonging the closure of Highway 87 between Rollover Pass and High Island on Bolivar Peninsula.
A Coastal Flood Warning and Flash Flood Watch are in effect until Friday morning.
Some minor street flooding was reported across Galveston County Thursday, and that minor flooding is likely to be repeated Friday. Weather forecasters are expecting the rain to continue throughout the weekend, with pockets of sunshine emerging some time Sunday.
Alex, which killed at least 2 people in Mexico, was the first June hurricane in the Atlantic since 1995.
