Coastal Flooding Anticipated PDF Print E-mail

The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management continues to work with the National Weather Service to monitor the heavy rainfall and high tides anticipated for our county tonight and through the day tomorrow.

A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through 7:00 pm Thursday night and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the same time frame.  Highway 87 is anticipated to close sometime tonight or early morning between High Island and Rollover Pass due to higher than normal tides associated with the tropical weather moving into southern Texas.  Flooding is also possible in other low-lying areas of the county such as Jamaica Beach, San Leon and Bacliff.

Stay informed by listening to the weather updates issued by the National Weather Service.  Remember if there is water covering the roadway, make the safe decision.  Turn around, don't drown.
