Highway 87 between High Island and Rollover Pass was closed around 4 AM with about 2 feet of water over the roadway.  The National Weather Service expectes the tides to remain elevated through much of today.

The low pressure system located in the southern Gulf of Mexico off the Yucatan Peninsula was upgraded to a Tropical Depression last night and could still develop into Tropical Storm Bonnie prior to making landfall near the Texas-Mexico border this afternoon.

Threat to our area continues to be heavy rain and high tides.  We remain under a Coastal Flood Warning, which has been extended until 7 PM Friday and a Flash Flood Watch through 5 AM Friday.
