The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring the arctic cold front that is approaching our area.
A Wind Advisory is in effect until midnight Wednesday. A Hard Freeze Warning will be in effect from 6:00 PM until 10:00 AM Thursday.
Rain will continue to fall in our area until the early afternoon. Some freezing precipitation is possible. As the Arctic Cold Front moves through our area, winds will shift to the north at 20 - 30 mph with gusts up to 35 mph through the evening hours. Temperatures will fall rapidly within two to three hours of the front passing. Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s this afternoon and into the mid 20s late tonight.
County officials are working closely with TxDOT and DPS to monitor road conditions in our area. Bridges and overpasses are likely to freeze a few hours after the front passes through.
