Widespread Showers, Thunderstorms Expected

Thursday, March 08, 2012 – The National Weather Service is anticipating widespread showers and thunderstorms to develop along and ahead of a cold front Thursday evening through the weekend.
Forecasters are expecting widespread ½ to 1 inch rainfall amounts across Southeast Texas, with isolated amounts up to 3 inches, especially over the northern portions of our area. Though there may be a short break in the rain Friday morning with the passage of the front, there is a chance of additional rainfall Friday afternoon and periodic showers over the weekend.
The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management and our partners with the Weather Service will be monitoring the rainfall and flooding threat throughout the weekend. Check this web site or local media for the latest information, and remember to avoid walking or driving through flooded areas.
