  • The Arctic cold front is still on track to push across southeast Texas during the day Thursday.
  • A very rapid decrease in temperatures and wind chills can be expected as the front passes. Winds will increase to 20-35 mph with higher gusts.
  • By sunset Thursday, a good portion of the region will already be at or below freezing, especially north of the Interstate 69 - Highway 59 corridor. Coastal areas will follow shortly thereafter.
  • Bitterly cold conditions and hard freezes will persist into the weekend.
  • Unsettled marine conditions, with gale force winds, high seas, and low water conditions are expected in the wake of the front.
  • Preparations for the cold weather should be ongoing and completed before the front arrives Thursday.
