Severe Weather Outlook

We are expecting isolated showers and thunderstorms to develop in the afternoon with heating today.  Late this afternoon and into the evening, clusters of strong and/or severe thunderstorms are expected to move southeast across southeast Texas.  A slight risk of severe thunderstorms exists generally along and southwest of a College Station to Houston to Galveston line. Elsewhere, a marginal risk exists. The primary hazard is 
damaging straight line winds, but hail and locally heavy rainfall may also occur. The most likely time for severe thunderstorms across southeast Texas is 
between 4 and 10 pm.

On Saturday afternoon and evening there is a risk of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds generally north of I-10.

Going through the weekend and into next week, the heat will crank up. Much of next week should see above average heat, and we may venture within a few degrees of record highs on some days. There is very high confidence in an early summer hot stretch next week. There is potential for our first triple digit highs in some locations, and heat advisories may be needed.
