No Excessive Heat Warnings today, but an area-wide Heat Advisory is in place through at least tomorrow.

Potential for seeing any storms at all today is lower than yesterday, but if any storms do form, they can easily become strong to severe. 

Today looks very much like a toned-down version of yesterday - our forecast heat index values are slightly lower, but still dangerous if precautions are not taken. Similarly, we have a lower potential than yesterday for thunderstorms to develop, but if any do form today and/or tonight, they can easily become strong to severe.

 The heat that has gripped the region for several days looks to relax ever so slightly - just enough that we have no excessive heat warnings in effect today. However, any improvement in conditions is modest, and we expect heat index values to exceed 108° across the area this afternoon, with highs in the lower to mid 90s away from the Gulf. This is high enough for an area-wide heat advisory, and continued heat precautions are necessary to keep heat illness at bay.

We are also seeing another potential threat for severe thunderstorms (5-15% chance) this afternoon and/or tonight. Like yesterday, the primary threat is damaging wind gusts, with hail as a secondary threat. The main difference from yesterday is that there is less indication that we may see any storms form at all. However, if any storms do occur, they will be able to strengthen rapidly.
