The Heat Advisory is now in effect until Sunday afternoon. Beginning on Sunday afternoon, an Excessive Heat Watch is now in effect.

Dangerous heat will remain in the forecast for the remainder of the weekend and into next week. Highs today will reach the upper 90s for most of the area, while tomorrow temperatures look to again break the triple digit mark. Humid conditions will also persist, leading to dangerously high heat index values during the afternoon hours. Heat Index values will reach as high as 110 for many locations today, and may exceed 113 tomorrow afternoon. Triple digit high temperatures are in the forecast for the duration of the upcoming week, along with heat index values near 110. Because of this, we anticipate the need for additional Heat Advisories and potentially Excessive Heat Warnings for the foreseeable future. Early indications are that some relief may arrive next weekend as the weather pattern producing this period of heat finally breaks down, but this is currently uncertain.
