Here are some tips for keeping your pet safe during hot weather:
Water: Give your pet plenty of fresh, clean water when it's hot or humid outdoors
Shade: Make sure your pet has a shady place to get out of the sun
Exercise: Be careful not to over-exercise your pet
Time: Avoid being outside for long periods of time during the hottest time of the day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Temperatures above 89°F: Most dogs are at risk of heat stroke at temperatures above 89°F
- Heat stress: If you see signs of heat stress in your pet, get them into a cool, shady area and give them water to drink
Doghouse: A doghouse does not provide relief from heat—in fact, it makes it worse
Grass: Walk your pet in the grass if possible, to avoid hot surfaces burning their paws
Hot vehicle: Never leave your pet in a hot vehicle, even for a few minutes
