As you gear up for a spooktacular night of tricks and treats, here's a last-minute checklist to ensure a safe and fun Halloween:

🔦 Check your flashlights: Make sure you have working flashlights or lanterns on hand for safe trick-or-treating, especially in case of any power outages.

🎃 Decorate with care: Ensure that decorations won't obstruct pathways or emergency exits.

🍬 Treats for all: Have allergy-friendly or non-food treats available for kids with dietary restrictions or allergies.

🚗 Traffic safety: Remind staff and community members to be extra cautious when driving through residential neighborhoods on Halloween night. Kids may be excited and not always mindful of traffic.

🎭 Costume safety: Encourage costume wearers to choose outfits that are easy to move in, have good visibility, and won't cause tripping hazards. Mask wearers should ensure they can see clearly.

🐾 Pet safety: If you have office pets or if employees bring their furry friends to work, keep them away from Halloween candies, which can be harmful to animals. Make sure their costumes (if they're wearing any) are comfortable and safe.

Have a frightfully fantastic Halloween, Galveston County Office of Emergency Management!
