Continuing our focus on Severe Weather Awareness Week, today's emphasis is on Tornado Safety. Tornadoes can develop swiftly, posing a significant threat to our coastal community. Being prepared and knowing how to respond during a tornado is crucial for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones.

Tornado Safety Tips:

  • Designate a safe place: Your primary shelter during tornadoes.
  • Interior room: If an underground shelter isn't available, seek refuge in a small, windowless interior room on the lowest floor.
  • Use protection: Cover yourself with a mattress or heavy blankets for added safety.
  • Stay informed: Keep abreast of weather alerts and warnings to stay ahead of any tornado activity.
  • Practice drills: Conduct tornado drills regularly to ensure that everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
By following these tornado safety tips, we can better prepare ourselves and our community for the potential dangers of these powerful storms.
