After a scattering of light showers this morning, scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later today, and carry into Monday as upper level disturbances push across Southeast TX. The flood watch that was issued yesterday continues from early this morning through 7am CDT Monday. The watch has been expanded to include Brazos, Grimes, Montgomery, and northern Liberty counties as the latest data indicates the potential for flooding rains and severe weather may exist slightly further south than previously anticipated. At this time, estimated rainfall totals from Sunday into Monday evening are 2 to 4 inches with isolated higher amounts mainly north of I-10 and 1 to 2 inches with isolated higher amounts elsewhere. Depending on how the situation evolves today, and what expectations are for tomorrow, the flood watch may need to be extended beyond Monday morning. There is also the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
