Galveston County, TX – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced several lane closures in Galveston County for the upcoming weeks. These closures are part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing road safety and driving conditions. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Interstate 45 (I-45) Gulf Freeway will have northbound and southbound lane closures from June 25 to July 2, 2024. The closures will occur nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM, with two lanes in each direction closed for pavement repairs between FM 1764 and SH 6. During these closures, traffic will be directed to the frontage roads.
  2. State Highway 146 (SH 146) will experience a northbound lane closure from June 26 to July 1, 2024. This closure will take place nightly from 8 PM to 6 AM, with one lane closed from FM 518 to FM 2094 for ongoing bridge construction. Drivers are encouraged to use FM 518 and FM 2094 as alternate routes.
  3. Farm to Market Road 3005 (FM 3005) will have an eastbound lane closure from June 28 to July 3, 2024. The closure will be in effect daily from 7 AM to 7 PM, with one lane closed between 13 Mile Road and 17 Mile Road for resurfacing work. Traffic will be managed with flaggers and pilot cars to guide vehicles through the work zone.
  4. State Highway 6 (SH 6) will see a westbound lane closure from June 30 to July 5, 2024. The closure will occur nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM, with one lane closed from I-45 to FM 517 for maintenance work on overhead signage. Drivers can use FM 517 as an alternative route during closure hours.

To minimize disruption, drivers are advised to plan ahead, allowing extra travel time and considering alternate routes.
