Loan Options for Businesses and Nonprofits
Businesses of all sizes, along with private nonprofit organizations, can borrow up to $2 million. These funds can be used to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory, and other business assets. Additionally, the SBA offers the possibility of extra funds to cover the cost of improvements designed to prevent or minimize future disaster damage.
Homeowners and Renters Assistance
Homeowners are eligible for disaster loans up to $500,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Both homeowners and renters can apply for up to $100,000 to cover the repair or replacement of personal property, including personal vehicles.
Attractive Interest Rates and Terms
The SBA offers competitive interest rates for these loans:
- Businesses: as low as 4 percent
- Private nonprofit organizations: as low as 3.25 percent
- Homeowners and renters: as low as 2.688 percent
The loan terms can extend up to 30 years, with the amount and terms being determined based on each applicant’s financial situation.
Deferred Interest and Repayment
To ease the financial burden, interest on these disaster loans does not begin to accrue until 12 months after the first disbursement. Likewise, repayment also begins 12 months from the date of the first disbursement.
