Don’t Let the Heat Go Unchecked — Look Out for One Another

Post Date:05/20/2025

In Galveston County, we know community matters. During extreme heat, checking on others—especially the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those without A/C—can be lifesaving.

Tips to Stay Connected and Safe:

  • Set a daily check-in schedule with elderly relatives or neighbors.

  • Help others find cooling centers or resources.

  • Offer rides or assistance for those needing help escaping the heat.

Community Tip: The Galveston County Health District provides local health updates and services - visit their website or follow their alerts during heat events here.

Working together keeps everyone safer—be the reason someone stays healthy this summer.
