Stay Safe After the Storm

Post Date:05/08/2026

Only return home when officials confirm it is safe to do so through GCOEM and local authorities. Avoid driving through flooded roads, as even shallow water can be dangerous and unpredictable.

Be aware of lingering hazards such as downed power lines, gas leaks, debris, and unstable structures. Avoid floodwater due to contamination risks, and use generators safely outdoors and away from windows to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
