The rain may be moving out, but the heat is moving in.
Temperatures across Galveston County will be in the mid-90s through the rest of this week and into next week, with heat index values making it feel much hotter.
As we head into a stretch of Texas summer weather, take a few simple steps to stay safe:
☀️ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
☀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest afternoon hours.
☀️ Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be sick or without air conditioning.
☀️ Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.
A little preparation can go a long way in preventing heat-related illnesses. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.
