Finding the right costume is hard enough, but finding a safe costume maybe more important.

Try to find a flame resistant fabric. It should state on the label if the fabric is flame resistant or not. Many people love to decorate with candles, so avoid flammable and flowing costumes. Flowing costumes may also snag or trip you.

Wear reflective strips, or try and incorporate them into the costume itself. Chemical lights, flashlights, and bright colors will also help keep you visible. There will be a lot of ghosts and ghouls running around, and you want yours to be noticed when crossing streets. Make sure to check the batteries on your flashlight and carry some spares.

You and your little ones will be walking a lot in order to fill up their candy bag. It is a good idea then to have comfortable but sturdy shoes to last the night.
